When I use my mobile data to upload files on the app, even after giving it permission to use data, the file gets stuck in "waiting to upload" status, despite the upload being completed according to the notification. I can't make any changes to my files on the app unless I switch to Wi-Fi, which is incredibly frustrating. Clearing the cache hasn't resolved the issue, and it persists across different networks. This problem has been ongoing since I started using Google Drive, and the only workaround is connecting to Wi-Fi.

Upon opening Google Drive for academic purposes, my personal files from MS Excel suddenly appeared. Although I deleted them from Google Drive, I was surprised to find them missing from MS Excel the next day. I didn't delete them from MS Excel but from Google Drive, making it emotionally taxing to deal with.

For the past two to three weeks, I've been unable to download files from Google Drive, regardless of size. Despite contacting customer service twice, their solutions haven't worked for me. I'm unsure if there's an issue with my account, even though I've purchased additional storage, or if Google Drive is just malfunctioning lately.
Anonymous said…
Initially, I thought the issues were isolated to my phone until I read similar complaints after wasting data on unnecessary purchases. It's apparent that this app has significant flaws—it takes ages to upload documents, only to have them disappear. I've lost important and irreplaceable photos despite trying various fixes like cleaning my phone, buying more storage, and resetting it. Each new update seems to make things worse. Please improve this app—it's incredibly frustrating!

There have been reports in the media about thieves snatching unlocked phones, gaining access to all apps, including Google Drive. Unlike OneDrive, Google Drive lacks biometric or PIN locking, posing a significant security risk. I prefer using Google Drive but this issue is a dealbreaker.

After the latest update, uploading files from Drive to Play Books has become problematic. Although it shows as uploading in Play Books, the files don't appear in the app. Despite trying troubleshooting steps like clearing cache and reinstalling both apps, the issue persists. Google, please address this problem—it's frustrating and impacts user experience negatively.

The Google Drive app used to be very useful for me, but after a recent update, it's been behaving strangely. When attempting to open a file and selecting "open with" from the three dots menu, the phone freezes. This issue occurs on my tablet as well, and one of my students faces the same problem. Previously, I had options like OneDrive, Microsoft Word, or Samsung PDF, but the problem persists despite the update.

I appreciate Google Drive overall, but the uploading process is incredibly frustrating. It's a well-documented issue in other reviews, so I won't delve into details. It seems to be a universal problem, unaffected by app updates or network conditions. The feature appears poorly designed, to the point where it might as well not be available on mobile.
Anonymous said…
There's a highly irritating bug where files uploaded using data instead of Wi-Fi aren't processed by the app, causing them to be uploaded again once connected to Wi-Fi. Sometimes, it even repeatedly attempts to upload the same files despite their successful upload.
Anonymous said…
Who authorized this app to delete storage from my phone? Deleting data from their database or app is acceptable, but wiping my phone's storage without warning or confirmation is unacceptable. The "Free up space" option turned out to be disastrous—I lost all my important photos, documents, and videos with a single tap, and there's no way to recover them.
Anonymous said…
When sorting by storage used, most folders just display two dots instead of their size, making cleanup impossible. Google should consider expanding the subscription plans, as the current options are either too limited or too expensive. Additionally, the app crashes when trying to clean up and often contains duplicate photos with identical names in Google Photos.

File uploads frequently fail, especially when there's no internet connection. Even after reconnecting, Google Drive gets stuck in a perpetual "Waiting to upload" state or incorrectly shows files as still uploading. While clearing the cache temporarily helped, subsequent attempts got stuck again for hours.
Anonymous said…
Since the recent update, the "share/manage access" option for folders and files doesn't work on my phone, particularly when connected to Wi-Fi. Despite trying various fixes like clearing cache and storage, the issue persists, making it frustratingly slow to access files and folders.

The inability to upload folders in 2024 is baffling. Google should modernize its approach, considering we're not in the Victorian era. It's unclear what purpose this flawed app serves when it does work. However, I haven't actually uninstalled it yet, but the menu option disappeared after uninstalling it once. I might explore alternative services or resort to using a USB stick.

While it's convenient that the app functions across various platforms, it's frustratingly slow regardless of the platform I use. On my phone, I often receive a message below the video claiming it no longer exists, despite the video still playing. The connection is too fragile, lacking a picture-in-picture feature like YouTube, hindering multitasking during listening sessions, especially for school purposes. This issue isn't recent.

This app used to excel as my go-to for cloud files. However, it now frequently glitches when uploading files without a Wi-Fi network. Uploaded files get stuck in limbo and fail to upload properly, sometimes consuming background resources unnecessarily. Even when disabling Wi-Fi-only uploading, it reactivates itself. I'm using a Samsung S23 Ultra.

It's incredibly frustrating and disappointing to encounter such issues with this app, even when connected to Wi-Fi. Uploads take hours for just a single photo, often getting stuck on one or multiple uploads simultaneously. Pictures appear grayed out in the Drive app, with no option to cancel or retry the uploads. The app functions acceptably on a PC browser, but the mobile version is severely broken.
Anonymous said…
While the app boasts a nice design and reasonable intuitiveness, its reliability is severely lacking. Most uploads get stuck without any option to cancel them, necessitating uninstallation and reinstallation of the app. Accessing Drive via a web browser in desktop mode is the only viable workaround. These persistent bugs are disappointing, especially considering their longevity.

Although the app generally functions as expected, it has become unusually buggy lately. Attempting to move a file freezes the app, making file sorting impossible. Additionally, many programs for opening files crash upon startup, rendering file editing impossible at times. Despite reporting these issues, they persist even after reinstalling the app.
Anonymous said…
Overall, the app's functionality is decent, but mass image uploading is problematic. Uploading hundreds of images can be slow and unreliable, despite other file browsers on the phone managing uploads seamlessly. This discrepancy suggests an issue specific to Google Drive.
Anonymous said…
I've observed that document scans consistently appear blurry, especially towards the edges, despite adjusting distance and zoom levels. This issue persists across multiple devices, including Pixel 7 and OnePlus 9, suggesting it's not device-specific.

Experiencing issues with frozen uploads, I attempted various fixes to no avail. Eventually, re-uploading resolved the issue, though it's not an intuitive solution. Having a more effective kill switch would enhance the user experience.

The recent update to the Google Drive app has caused it to behave strangely. When attempting to open a file and selecting "open with" from the three dots menu, the phone freezes. This issue is also present on tablets, and even one of my students has encountered the same problem. Previously, options like OneDrive, Microsoft Word, or Samsung PDF were available, but the problem persisted. However, after the recent update on January 3rd, the issue seems to have been resolved.

While Drive offers convenient online backup storage for Android users, I've experienced significant data loss due to potential security flaws in the Google Drive Cloud. It's wise to back up media files on another platform or device to prevent loss or corruption, especially for video and audio files stored on Drive.

Attempting to upload large files, such as those over 3 gigabytes, seems nearly impossible. Despite using a Wi-Fi connection with over 30 megabits per second upload speed, none of the files I've tried have completed uploading. I'll be switching to Microsoft services from now on.
Anonymous said…
My experience with this app over the past few years has been excellent. Although there are limitations on the number of files that can be uploaded simultaneously, I find it incredibly useful and hope the developers don't make any significant changes or remove it.
Anonymous said…
While the app is generally good, I'm rating it two stars due to some issues I've encountered. Firstly, it lacks a file duplicate remover like Google Photos, allowing thousands of duplicate files to be uploaded unknowingly. Additionally, some files remain stuck in the uploading process indefinitely, preventing access until the upload is completed.
Anonymous said…
Navigating through similar labeled videos in Drive can be cumbersome, especially when trying to delete specific ones. There's a need for a feature to highlight or distinguish videos for easier management. Also, dealing with unwanted memories and difficulty deleting multiple items at once is frustrating
Anonymous said…
The uploading process via mobile data is unreliable, despite Drive being otherwise dependable for cloud storage. Even after manually uploading smaller files using mobile data, the app still shows them as waiting for Wi-Fi. Resetting data removes all previously collected Drive shortcuts from the home screen, which is impractical for me.

Encountering a pornographic image in a PDF document and continually receiving notifications about it, even after blocking the account, is a concerning security and privacy issue. Despite blocking the user multiple times and having two-factor authentication enabled, the problem persists, prompting Google Drive to crash. This issue requires urgent fixing.

I used to adore Google Drive, and I still do in theory. However, the issue arises when I attempt to upload files. It's either a drawn-out process that seems to take forever, or the files vanish into thin air once uploaded. Despite having the 2 TB storage plan through Google One, the constant disappearance of files became intolerable, prompting me to switch to Dropbox. Here's hoping they don't suffer the same fate of uploading files into oblivion.
Anonymous said…
It's disappointing how unreliable Google Drive has become. Despite paying for 1 TB of storage and having top-notch internet service through Google Fi and a brand-new Pixel 8 Pro, uploading items to Drive often gets stuck in an endless "waiting to upload" cycle, even for simple items like a single-page PDF of my airline itinerary. With Google's lackluster tech support, paying for this service isn't worthwhile if reliability is what you seek.

Whenever I make updates to files, such as adding new ones, changing filenames, or deleting files, these updates take an eternity to appear for many users, despite their good internet connections. Additionally, I've encountered issues playing videos or audios within the app, even after uninstalling and reinstalling it. Previously, I could delete comments within a file, but that feature seems to have disappeared. It would be helpful to add a feature to replace a file without changing its link.
Anonymous said…
While it's a great app overall, it sorely lacks a remote upload feature. This would allow users to paste a URL and have the file copied directly from the website host to their Google Drive. This would circumvent issues with throttled upload speeds from certain websites or sneaky ISP throttling, ensuring faster connections between data centers and a smoother experience for users.

I've been a fan of this app for some time, particularly the new scanner tool with its impressive auto capture feature. However, since the latest update, all the documents I scan come out with a gray background. Despite available filters to adjust for shadows or convert to black and white, the scans still print out gray. This has forced me to use Microsoft Lens for regular-looking white documents and then manually add them to Drive afterward.

After my phone was stolen and replaced, attempting to sync my data revealed that there was nothing in Drive. Despite receiving constant pop-ups about being nearly out of space, I've lost all my contacts, photos, and WhatsApp conversations from the last four years. It's baffling that the only thing that synchronized correctly was my payment and subscriptions section. I urgently need a solution to retrieve my lost data.

Google Drive ranks as one of the buggiest apps I've encountered. Attempting to upload files on mobile data doesn't work, even when I've set it to upload via Wi-Fi only. Additionally, attempting to resume upload on mobile data results in perpetual loading without any actual upload progress. Even on Wi-Fi, uploads get stuck, especially for large files.

I'm frustrated with Google Drive; if you have hundreds or thousands of files in the recycle bin, you can only delete 32 at a time, making it impossible to empty the bin efficiently. Google used to be my favorite, but recent changes to features are irritating. For instance, in Google Photos, you can no longer choose specific folders to back up; instead, everything, including smileys and text message screenshots, gets backed up to your Google account. It's time for Google to reassess its apps, as they seem to be on a downward trend.
Anonymous said…
Your response doesn't address my issues; you merely provided a link with common problems about the app. I demand a refund! Despite paying for 200 GB, there are significant issues. There's no option to download folders or check the size of a folder, and I have to individually select files to check the folder's contents, which is time-consuming. I've already emailed you and provided feedback through the app; please refund me.
Anonymous said…
Please resolve this issue immediately! The app insists on waiting for Wi-Fi to upload, even though I've disabled the Wi-Fi only setting. I've reported this several times via in-app feedback, but it hasn't been fixed. Update: The problem resurfaced, possibly after a OneUI update. Clearing app data or reinstalling the app hasn't resolved it. Sometimes files do upload, but the app erroneously indicates they're still being uploaded.

Trying to regain control over my photos, whether taken on my phone or uploaded from my camera, has become maddening. Google Drive seems to have taken over, and attempting to delete photos to free up storage space results in them disappearing from all devices. Uninstalling Drive from my PC isn't allowed, and disabling it on my phone hasn't helped. I refuse to be coerced into paying for more storage.

I scanned several documents and saved them, but the app failed to upload them. Even after restarting my phone and resetting network settings, the documents remained unsaved to my Drive. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app revealed that the documents were gone. Numerous others online have reported similar issues, yet there's been no resolution. I'm ditching this app indefinitely; Google, please address this

I've attempted various solutions, but none have worked. The file simply duplicates itself. Original: As a devoted Google Drive user, if Google can't find a way to stop spam, I'll need to seek an alternative cloud service. I pay for storage and should have the ability to report and remove spam or avoid it altogether. Why isn't there a spam filter for Google Drive that blocks sharing from unknown email addresses? Why must I "block" a sender to protect my Drive, which doesn't even work?

Why does uploading documents require a Wi-Fi connection when I have a mobile data connection? Files often get stuck and lost due to this issue, even after configuring settings for mobile data. Clearing cache hasn't resolved the problem. Initially, it waits for Wi-Fi, and if the setting is switched to a metered network, it waits for a network. This issue only occurs with Drive; other Google apps function properly.

Uploading anything through the app is incredibly difficult and frustrating. There's no error message; just a spinning uploading circle that never progresses. I'm left unable to cancel or restart the upload. It's so troublesome that I'm forced to resort to using a laptop, which is inconvenient, especially while traveling. Final edit: After months, there's been no response or resolution from support. I'm considering switching to a different cloud drive; this is too exasperating.

There's a bothersome bug where attempting to upload a file over cellular correctly prevents the upload. However, if you click "resume upload," the file uploads, but Drive still shows it as grayed out, with a message stating "waiting for Wi-Fi," despite being uploaded. This issue persists even after verifying the upload via a web browser or another device. Edit: I've already attempted suggested solutions without any improvement.
Anonymous said…
Please rectify the upload bug! While the app works reasonably well, uploads fail when switching between Wi-Fi and mobile networks, or they appear to fail even when the files are uploaded. I'm unable to close the in-app notification indicating failed uploads, causing them to accumulate. Additionally, sync is slow, particularly on PC, sometimes requiring multiple reboots to update file versions. This has resulted in losing changes to Excel sheets. Please address these issues promptly.

I continually encounter issues with Google Drive's offline availability feature. Despite marking files as available offline, I find that I have to do so repeatedly, even though the files haven't been modified. Even when I have a Wi-Fi connection, the app attempts to make files available offline, with no option to disable this behavior. Even files already marked as available offline constantly display a "no connection" message, despite being offline. It's essential for the software to function properly, but your response doesn't address the ongoing frustration. Moreover, the recent update necessitated making all files offline again, pushing me to seek alternative solutions.

Google Drive is another rogue app from Google. It persistently runs in the background, circumventing user settings to prevent it from doing so. Once it detects an internet connection, it jumps to the RAM, potentially uploading files without user consent. This lack of control over the app's behavior is concerning, especially considering it's developed by the OS developers themselves.

While I used to love the app, it's become painfully slow. Once a process starts, such as uploading or waiting for Wi-Fi, it becomes impossible to stop or remove it. Despite paying for extra storage, these issues persist, creating headaches for users like me. Please address these problems promptly.
Anonymous said…
I consistently encounter upload problems, especially when there's an initial connection issue or the setting is configured to download only over Wi-Fi. In such cases, uploads remain pending indefinitely. The only workaround is to force stop the app, clear the cache, and then the issue resolves temporarily. It's frustrating to experience syncing problems with this app, especially considering my premium Google One membership and the fact that I'm using an Android phone.

Google Drive is exceptionally reliable, secure, and safe, providing excellent file storage capabilities. Its folder feature allows for organized storage of various file types, ensuring data remains accessible and secure for years. With features like link sharing, folder creation, and offline file availability, it's undoubtedly one of the best cloud storage apps available.

I've encountered a myriad of issues with the mobile app. Despite attempting to upload an image with Wi-Fi, the app refuses to cooperate. Even after multiple attempts to cancel the upload, the app remains stuck, forcing me to delete the entire folder and start anew. This experience is unacceptable, and I expect better functionality from such a widely used app.

Uploading files through the app is a frustrating experience, as they often become stuck in a perpetual upload loop. Despite clearing the cache and reinstalling the app, the issue persists. While uploading works fine on other devices like my PC, the app on my phone consistently fails to deliver satisfactory performance.
Anonymous said…
I've encountered difficulties uploading large files, despite numerous attempts to resolve the issue. Clearing data, force stopping the app, and restarting my phone have all failed to solve the problem. Additionally, the app lacks a progress indicator, making it challenging to monitor uploads. I'm now exploring alternative cloud storage options due to these persistent issues.

Your response doesn't address my query, and I'm changing my rating to one star. It's disappointing that there's no option to set folders to work offline on Android, particularly when dealing with thousands of music files across numerous folders. It's impractical to manually mark each file as available offline, especially when considering subfolders. The absence of this functionality is a significant drawback and needs to be addressed.
Anonymous said…
I've attempted the suggested solutions, such as clearing the cache, but the app remains unresponsive. It gets stuck midway, preventing me from interacting with the screen. Even if I accidentally upload a file twice and attempt to delete it, the app still shows it as uploading after reopening. These persistent issues severely impact the app's usability and need immediate attention.

There's a frustrating bug where files get stuck in an upload limbo after editing them in an external program. While most of the time, the changes reflect accurately, occasionally, the file status remains stuck on "Waiting for upload" indefinitely. Despite accessing the files via a web browser and confirming the changes, the Drive app blocks access. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app resolves the issue temporarily, but it's a recurring problem that needs addressing.

The scanning function has been updated, but it's brought about numerous issues. It fails to retain settings between scans, such as flash preferences or auto-scan options. Additionally, it frequently flips scanned images by 180 degrees, necessitating manual correction. Editing scan areas has become cumbersome, as dragging the border between corners to resize the area no longer functions correctly. Despite attempting to clear the cache, these issues persist even months later, severely impacting usability.

Whenever I attempt to modify share access within the app, it gets stuck on loading indefinitely. Oddly, I have a stable internet connection, as confirmed by browsing on my browser. I'm unsure if this issue is specific to my device or a problem with the app itself. Interestingly, I don't encounter this problem when accessing Google Drive on my laptop. However, since I'm currently unable to use my laptop, I rely on the Android app version. I hope the option to change file access when sharing will also be available when accessing Drive via a browser.

This app is plagued with numerous bugs, particularly when attempting to share a link, as it consistently crashes with an error message. However, copying other links or words, such as those from YouTube, works perfectly fine. Despite trying solutions like clearing the cache and reinstalling the app, the issue persists. It's frustrating that this functionality was working smoothly a few months ago but has suddenly stopped working this week. Edit: As of January 25, the bug remains unresolved.

Recently, PDFs no longer display cover images; instead, they show a greyed-out "PDF" logo. This issue arose within the last four days, as previously PDFs did show cover images. The size of the PDF doesn't seem to be a factor, as I'm well within my 100GB storage limit. I hope this issue is rectified promptly to restore the previous functionality.

I'm unable to select all files within a folder and upload them simultaneously. With a folder containing around 500 document files, the "Select All" option fails silently when attempting to upload them from my phone. Additionally, setting access permissions for files and folders recursively is not possible. I encountered a significant issue when a friend changed access to a private folder to public, affecting all subfolders and files. It's frustrating that changing the parent folder's access doesn't cascade to its contents.
Anonymous said…
The app fails to upload photos reliably, regardless of network settings—whether on Wi-Fi or data, only a few randomly selected files are actually uploaded out of a selection. This issue doesn't occur on the computer, making it particularly frustrating. Despite resetting and reinstalling the app, the problem persists. Additionally, I'm puzzled as to why someone else's shared folder is consuming my storage space.

After recent updates, Google Drive has become increasingly problematic. As a frequent user, I encounter issues when downloading files, with the app frequently becoming unresponsive or freezing. Clearing the cache each time I need to download a file is incredibly inconvenient and disruptive to my workflow.

I'm experiencing frequent issues uploading documents to Drive from my phone. Error messages indicate "Waiting for Wi-Fi" or "Waiting for network," despite having a stable connection. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling the app, the issue persists. Restarting the phone sometimes helps but isn't a reliable solution.
Anonymous said…
Despite having ample storage on Drive and being connected to Wi-Fi, files fail to upload. I've granted all necessary permissions to the app and tried different networks, including mobile data, with no success. Strangely, the notification indicates that the file is uploaded, but upon checking Drive, it shows as waiting to be uploaded.

Occasionally, when attempting to open a video with the "open with" feature, the loading process fails to start, rendering the app unresponsive to further interactions. This issue seems to occur when the loading process is invisible or encounters an error. Clearing all data or reinstalling the app resolves the issue temporarily.
